II. POLICY:
The Work-Study Program is intended to allocate federal funds to
universities to assist in the employment of university students
needing financial aid. The employment may be within the university,
or in outside agencies contracting with the university. The federal
government and the university or contracting agency each contributes
a portion of the wages. The federal-institution/contracting agency
ration of contribution cannot exceed 80 percent of the total work-
study payroll.
Funding of expenditures for this program may be from any fund source
available for current operations, for example, general funds,
private gifts and grants, and outside agencies. These matching
funds, i.e., 20 percent of the total payroll, must be deposited with
the UCSB Accounting Office prior to the student's first working day,
for each financial quarter (ending dates: September 30, December 31,
March 31, June 31).
Any unexpected balance will be either refunded or held over in a
continuing account.
