FINANCIAL AID ADMINISTRATION
I. REFERENCE:
President Hitch's letter to Chancellor Cheadle, dated July 17, 1970.
II. POLICY:
The campus Financial Aid Office is responsible for the
administration of all student financial aid based upon financial
need. Determination of "financial need" requires information
concerning which students have applied for or are receiving other
financial assistance, such as fellowships and prizes. Consequently,
information on all financial aid awards and all prizes funded from
University-controlled resources, i.e., all funds appearing in the
University books of account, is to be submitted to the Financial Aid
Office prior to authorization of payment. Student
Financial Services is responsible for recording and timely
submission of this information to the Accounting Office.
This policy does not affect the authority of the Academic Senate
Committee on Undergraduate Scholarships, Honors, and Prizes, The
Dean of the Graduate Division, or academic departments in awarding
scholarships, fellowships, or prizes. In carrying out this policy,
Student Financial Services will not review or question such awards
but will take them into consideration in establishing financial need
when the student concerned has requested financial aid.
Please direct questions about these policies to Meta.Clow@vcadmin.ucsb.edu. For questions or comments regarding the format of the above information, please contact webcontact@ucsbuxa.ucsb.edu.
