EDUCATIONAL FEE
I. REFERENCES:
A. Planning and Budget Manual, Chapter 6020, the Educational Fee,
July 18, 1974.
B. UCSB Policy Manual, Policy 5800, UCSB Employee Development
Program.
II. POLICY:
A. Students will be required to pay the Educational Fee for every
quarter in which they register.
B. Waivers, exemptions and reduction of the Educational Fee are
limited to the classes of the students specified in this
policy:
1. University employees who enroll in regular session courses
are required to pay one-third of the Educational Fee; see
UCSB Policy 5800.
2. Students who enroll under the High School--University
Special Program are required to pay one-third of the
Educational Fee.
3. Eligible veterans' dependents are exempted from payment of
the Educational Fee under provisions of Section 10652 of
the Education Code.
4. Candidates for Masters and Doctors degrees who are
eligible to pay only the "filing fee" are not required to
pay the Educational Fee.
5. Surviving children of a police or fire suppression officer
who was a California resident and who died as a result of
his official duties are exempt from payment of the
Educational Fee under provisions of Section 23060 of the
Education Code. (The Regents approved this exemption
November, 1970, to become effective in the Fall Quarter,
1971.)
