HEALTH INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS
FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
I. REFERENCES:
A. UCSB Policies Manual, Policy 4215, Student Accident and
Sickness Insurance Plan.
II. POLICY:
A. The acquisition of Student Accident and Sickness Insurance Plan
is a condition of registration at UCSB for all international
students except those in the United States on immigrant
(Permanent Resident) visa. The campus insurance currently
available to all registered students (see Policy 4215) meets
all established minimum benefit criteria. Non-immigrant
students may not waive the purchase of this insurance for
themselves or dependents accompanying them, unless exempt.
Premiums for the UCSB health insurance policy must be paid at
the time of registration. Students must request exception
before payment of University fees.
B. Students may request an exemption from the UCSB mandatory
health insurance policy through the Office of International
Students and Scholars provided they have health insurance
coverage which is comparable or better than the UCSB policy.
