B. UCSB Policies Manual, Policy 4220, Insurance Requirements for
Foreign Students.
II. POLICY:
The Student Accident and Sickness Insurance plan supplements the
services offered by the campus Student Health Service and provides
benefits for certain medical expenses insured on or off campus. The
Student Health Service at UCSB is not an insurance service and
limits its medical, surgical, and infirmary benefits to those for
which it is staffed and equipped. In case of injury or illness, the
student must, whenever physically possible, first report to the
campus Student Health Service where the student will either be
treated or referred to an outside facility for necessary medical
care.
The Student Accident and Sickness Insurance Plan is negotiated
annually. The original copy of the contract, detailing the terms of
the policy is on file in the Student Health Director's Office.
