II. Policy
The Vice Chancellor, Student Affairs, or his designee will maintain a list of who is eligible for care at Student Health Service. The list will identify the eligible groups and payment mechanism, such as, but not limited to, prepay and fee-for-service.
A. Eligibility
Students who have paid the UCSB Registration Fee are eligible for care at Student Health Service. Fully registered students from other UC campuses are also eligible for care on a reciprocal agreement. In addition, the following groups are eligible on a prepay, or fee-for-service basis (see Policy 4205):
1. Summer Session students,
2. Continuing students not currently registered,
3. Prospective students on campus prior to registration,
4. Graduate students on approved leave,
5. Recently graduated or otherwise-terminated students under treatment for conditions which arose while they were registered, until continuing care can be arranged elsewhere,
6. Non-student spouses of eligible students.

B. Approval of Other Groups
In addition to those listed in paragraph II. A. above, service may be extended upon application to and approval by the Vice Chancellor, Student Affairs, based on the following considerations:
1. The availability of appropriate Student Health Service staff and facilities;
2. The group's relationship to the "UCSB Community," and the group’s role in furthering UCSB's overall programs in teaching, research, and community service; and
3. The ability of the group to obtain health care services off-campus which are reasonably accessible and acceptable.
C. Identification
1. Registered students identify themselves by showing their current Registration Cards.
2. Graduate students on approved leave who have subscribed to a prepayment plan identify themselves by showing cashier receipts of payment, or may be identified on lists provided to Student Health Service by academic deans or department chair persons.
3. Members of other groups, such as summer campers, sports camp participants, etc., are identified either by an identification card in their possession or by being on membership lists provided to Student Health Service by the sponsoring agency.
4. In emergency situations, care will be provided, usually on a fee-for-service basis, and eligibility status is determined as soon thereafter as practicable.
