II. Policy

Medical services may be provided to non-students as follows:

A. Faculty and Staff may receive care at Student Health Service for

    1. Compensable injuries (job-related Worker's Compensation) at no cost to the employee;
    2. Emergency, non-compensable illness and injuries on a fee-for-service basis. Student Health Service may provide the treatment needed to relieve the acute emergency condition until the employee is able to consult a private physician or be seen in a hospital emergency room; and

 

3. Preventive medical services, including immunizations and medical evaluations (see UCSB Policy 4230).

B. Visiting Professors, Visiting Scholars or Researchers, Post Doctorates, casual visitors at UCSB who attend campus functions, or individuals conducting campus-related business may receive care for treatment of acute emergency conditions at Student Health Service on a fee-for-service basis. Student Health Service may provide the treatment needed to relieve the acute emergency condition until the person is able to consult a private physician or be seen in a hospital emergency room.

C. During the summer months only, Student Health care, for varying levels of service, may also be made available on a prearranged fee-for-service basis for various "non-student" groups sponsored by UCSB such as, but not limited to, participants in summer sports camps, study groups, seminars, conferences, UC Extension courses, and alumni vacation groups. Spouses of participants in these groups or events are not eligible for services. UCSB departments sponsoring the

groups or events are responsible for making a request for care at Student Health Service in writing in advance.

 

D. Non-student spouses of students are eligible for care on a fee-for-service basis during regular clinic hours.
