STUDENT HEALTH SERVICE
I. REFERENCES:

II. POLICY:
A. Services Available:
The following services are available at the Student Health
Center for eligible students, whether or not they have
subscribed to the Students Health and Accident Insurance Plan
(see UCSB Policy 4215). Some of these services are subject to a
service charge. Certain of these services are also available to
non-students (see UCSB Policy 4205).
1. Physician attendance:
a. General Physician
b. Internist
c. Psychiatrist
d. Orthopedist
e. Dermatologist
f. Gynecologist
2. Podiatrist.
3. Nurse Attendant.
4. X-ray.
5. Laboratory.
6. Pharmacy.
7. Physical Therapy.
8. Preventive medical procedures (see UCSB Policy 4230).
9. Dental clinic.
10. Birth control/Information clinic.
11. Eye clinic.
B. Clinic Schedules:
1. Outpatient Clinic:
Clinic appointment hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.,
Monday-Friday.(Physician appointments may be made
personally at the Appointment Desk or by telephoning
893-3371.) Students requiring urgent medical attention
during clinic hours should report to the Health Center
without an appointment, where they will be seen by a nurse
or physician as the condition dictates.
After-Hours Care:
For injuries requiring prompt physician care, students are
instructed to go directly to one of the off-campus
community hospitals. Campus paramedics are also available
for acute emergencies.
2. Dental Clinic:
The Dental Clinic operates from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
daily except weekends and holidays. (Appointments with the
dentist or dental hygienist may be made personally at the
dental clinic or by telephoning 893-2891.) Dental
emergencies are given preference over routine scheduled
dental appointments.
3. Eye Clinic:
Eye Clinic hours of operation will be adjusted to meet
student needs. An appointment may be made with an
optometrist for an examination by telephoning 893-3170.
C. Emergency Medical Transportation:
Telephone 9-911 or 911 for emergency transportation to Student
Health Service or to an Off-campus emergency room.
