             BURNING AND OPEN FIRES ON UCSB PROPERTY
  
  I.   REFERENCES:
  
       None.
  
  II.  POLICY:
  
       Burning of any type (i.e., excess vegetation, destruction of a
       temporary building, or debris, etc.) is not permitted without the
       express written permission of the Vice Chancellor, Administrative
       Services. This includes the burning of debris by contractors on
       construction sites. Open fires are not permitted on UCSB properties
       with the exception of the following:
       
       A.   Bonfires, campfires, or barbecues are permitted with a Fire
            Permit written prior to the event from the University Fire
            Marshal, c/o Environmental Health and Safety Office.
       
       B.   Bonfires for athletic events or rallies will be authorized only
            by prior arrangement and written permission of the University
            Fire Marshal.
