                       DOGS ON CAMPUS
                              
I.   REFERENCES:

     County Code, County of Santa Barbara; Ordinance No.2580

II.  POLICY:

     Dogs in violation of the following regulations will be
     subject to impound and owners subject to citation by the
     campus or County Animal Control Officers:
     
     A.   Dogs on campus must be held on a leash not more than
          six feet long or securely confined in a vehicle at all
          times. Dogs under voice command are not considered on
          leash, and are not permitted.
     
     B.   Dogs are not permitted on bikeways.
     
     C.   Dogs may not be taken into or kept in any campus
          building.
     
     D.   Dogs may not be tied on campus, to any building,
          object, landscaping, or vehicle.
     
     E.   Dogs are not permitted in University vehicles, except
          when they are impounded animals or University-owned
          research animals being transported in approved
          vehicles.
     
     F.   A valid county dog license, evidence of current rabies
          vaccination, must be worn at all times by any dog on
          campus.
     
     G.   Dogs on campus are subject to all provisions of County
          Ordinance No. 2580.

   Seeing-eye dogs serving their owners are excepted from
   paragraphs A, C, D, and E of this policy.
