PURCHASES OVER $2,500 (HIGH VALUE)

A high value purchase order is required for all purchases with a value greater than $2,500, or for items that are restricted from purchase using the Low Value order process, no matter the value.

Only UCSB's professional buyers who work in the Purchasing/Procurement office and have been delegated the authority to commit funds and enter into contracts on behalf of the University can place a high value purchase order.

A high value purchase requisition is the way campus departments relay information about a desired purchase to a professional buyer. The purchase requisition contains all of the necessary information the buyer needs to make the purchase and commit the funds to pay for the purchase.

If your department has authorized you to commit its funds and you have an ALLN01 user code, you can access REX, the on-line purchasing system, to complete the requisition. For more information on REX, contact Purchasing at ext. 4073, or see On-line Access to REX.

Once you have submitted a requisition to the Purchasing Department, the requisition is assigned to a buyer who processes it as either a One-time (SB) Purchase Order or a Vendor Blanket (VB) Purchase Order. The buyer will assign a purchase order number and will follow proper University policy and procedures (BUS-43) to place your order.

The professional buyer will be in contact with you during the purchase process; you can also review your order on-line via REX, or you may contact the buyer to keep track of the order's progress.

Once the purchase is completed, your department can access a copy of the purchase order through PORS.
